The matchtook place at the famous Estadio Da Luz stadium in Lisbon. Portugal was able to come back from behind after a tough fight against Scotland. Scotland surprised the home crowd by scoring first through Scolt Mc Tominay. Mc Tominay is known for his ability to run into the box at the eight time. He scored the goal after just 15 minutes, finishing off a play that caught the portugese defense off guard.

The goal was a typical finish for Mc Tominay, who, who took advantage of a mistake by Portugal’s defense to give Scotland a surprising  1-0 lead.From then on, Portugal took control of the game having more possession and putting on a lot of pressure. However, Scotland was determined to hold onto their smell lead, with goal keeper Angus Gumn and the defensive line keeping Portugal out.

Scotland faced a lot of shots in the first half, more then they had defended in a single half since 2012. Even though Portugal was piutting a lot of pressure on them, Scotland still had the lead at half time. In the second half, Portugal kept affecting the scottish defense.

Portugal replaced some players with fresh ones, including the famous Cristiano Ronaldo, who came on at half time because of a tactical decision by Coach Roberto Martiney. Ronaldo quickly made a difference, becoming the focus of Portugal’s attacks. He almost helped score a goal and hit the post in the last 10 minutes, making the crowd more exicited.

With time running out and the game looking like a draw, Ronaldo scored again. In the 90th minute, a good cross from left back Nuno Mendes found Ronaldo in the box, who scored a good from close range to score his 901st career goal, winning the game for Portugal 2-1. The Crowd checked loudly as Ronaldo once again showed why he is one of the best football players ever.

Scotland played bravely through out the game, but their defense was eventually beaten by Portugals’s strong attacks. For Potugal, the win keeps them doing well in the UEFA Nations League. Scotland will be disappointed that they lost, but them confidence. Managers Roberto Martinez’s tactical changes including five substitutions in the second half , were important in winning the game.

His decision to bring on Ronaldo, Ruben Neves, Joao Neves, Joao Felix and Diogo Dalot added energy and creativity to the team as they tried to score the winning goal. Even though they lost, Scotland’s efforts, especially in defense, will give them confidence for the future. However, they were unable to keep their lead, which shows how difficult to complete against top teams like Portugal.

Portugal and Scotland have a long rivalry in football and this latest  match in the UEFA Nations League added another exciting part to their history.

India Sets New Paralympic Record 2024

India had a fantastic showing at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, winning a total of 29 medals. They brought home 7 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 13 bronze medals. India’s Paralympics journey in Paris ended on Sunday with Pooja Ojha’s Kayaking envent. Unfortunately, winning a total of 29 medals the most they have ever won at the Pralympics. This put them in 18th place over all. Meanwhile, Pakistan finished near at the bottom of the medal table with only one bronze medal.

India had a really impressive showing at the 2024 Paralympics, beating some big names like switzerland, Belgium and South Korea. They did so well that they ended up in the top 20 countries over all.

Clark might have secured the Rookie of the year title as the Fever (16-16) beat thesky (11-20) for the third time in four games. This wins boost the Fever’s chance of making the play off s, while Chicago in barely holding onto the last play off spot as the season nears its end.

The first match ups were very close, with a total difference of only 10 points and each team winning one game by a single point. However, this game turned into a blow out, Indiana scored their highest points of the season, while chicago gave up the most points they have all season. The game attracted a full crowd of 9,445 people at Wintrust Arena for Barbie night, a tribute to Reese’s college nickname, Bayou Barbie, at LSU. The audience included NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, former basket ball player  Sue Bird who had her own Barbie doll during her time with Seattle Storm and soccer star Megan Rapinoe.

Kelsey Mitchell scored 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, marking her sixth consecutive game with at least 20 points. The fever have a 5-1 record since the olympic break. Nalyssa Smith added 14 points, and lexie Hull scored 11.

The fever were outrebounded 42-31 but scored 28 points in the paint. They shot 48.5% from the field and had 26 assists on 32 baskets. Michaela Onyenwere led chicago with 20 points. The sky, who are 1-5 since the olympic break, also saw lindsay Allen score 19 points and Rachel Banham add 14. The team was missing Chennedy Carter, who averages 17:2 points per game and missed her second consecutive game due to health and safety protocols.

Allen quickly scored eight points, helping chicago go on an 11-0 run, which turned into a 15-1 run and gave them a 21-9 lead. However, Indiana ended the first quarter with a 12-2 run, trailing 26-23. The sun mole four of their season high nine 3-pointers in the first quarter.

“Except for the first six minutes of the game, I think we played really well. Our defense was strong”. Clark said. “I’m really proud of this team. I think we fought hard and didn’t let them get closer at the end, which was a problem the last time we were here. They came back from behind. Clark started the second quarter by making two 3-points, which gave the fever the lead. They went on a big run, scoring 34 points to chicago’s 12 and led by 10 points after Mitchell made a 3-pointer. Chicago fought back and cloded the gap to 47-41 at half time. However, Reese made a free throw to start the second half because Aliyah Boston was given a techical foul for arguing with the referee about a no-call at the end of the first half.

After she made the free throw, the fever was only five points ahead going into the second half. The Fever increased their lead to points early in the third quarter, but the sky stayed close until Dawin’s Danta’s made a 3-pointer and Hull made two free throws after getting an offensive rebound just before the end of the quarter. The score was 76-64 into the fourth quarter and snith had scored “Points in the third quarter”

The fever’s lead was as big as 27 points, but chicago finished the game with a 10-2 run.

Shah is said to have the backing of 16 out of 15 ICC board members, making his election seem almost assured. Shah, counted among the most influential faces in the ICC boardroom, is also part of the global cricket governing body’s all- powerful finance and commercial affairs  (F & CA) sub commitee, while Rohan Jaitley assumes to become BCCI Chairman this year.

As per the rules of the ICC, 16 direction votes in the chairman’s election and 9 votes are required to win the position. So far, four Indians have held the post of the ICC Chairman- 

  • Jagmohan Dalmiya (1977-2000)
  • Sharad Pawar (2010-2012)
  • N Srinivasan (2014-2015)
  • Shashank Manohar (2015-2020)

Jay Shah, son of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, is one of the most influential and powerful admistors in world cricket. Outgoing ICC Chairman Greg Barclay recently confirmed he will not seek a third term and will step down at the end of his current tenure in November.

“ICC Chair Greg Barclay confirmed to the board that he will not stand for a third term and will step down from the post when his current tenure finishes at the end of November. Barclay was appointed as the independent ICC Chairman in November 2020, before being re-elected in 2022,” The ICC stated in a media release.

Rohan Jaitley is expected to follow as the New BCCI Secretary. Rohan Jaitley, is the current Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president and son of the late politician Arun Jaitley. Rohan Jaitley was born into a family with a strong political and legal background. His father, the late Arun Jaitley was  senior BJP leader and served as India’s Finance Minister. Rohan Jaitley following in his father footsteps to become a practising lawer. He is practising law at Supreme Court Of India and Delhi High Court.

Apart from law making. Rohan Jaitley is also equally involved in cricket affairs. He was elected as Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) president in 2023. Rohan Jaitley has also been tasked with organising the Delhi Premier League T20, with big names Ayush Badoni, Lalit Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Rishabh Pant in it.

It’s worth noting that Rohan Jaitley is the son of ex-BJP minister Arun Jaitley, who had a strong connection in the BCCI. Hence, Rohan Jaitley influence will be equally strong. Rohan has been the president of DDCA twice and has quite a lot of experience in this area.

There’s could a possibility that the BCCI might reshuffle roles, with shukla, the current vice president and a congress MP in the Rajya Sabha, being for the secretary position for a year. Dhawan said,” I only had one dream and that was to play for India and I even achieved that. I am thankful for so many people who contributed in my journey. My childhood coach late Tarak Singh and Madan Sharma under whose guidance I learnt the basics of the game.

When Mohammad Shami Come Back?

India’s star fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been out of action since the ODI World Cup last year due to in injury. Agarkar confirmed that all efforts are being made to get Shami back for the Test series against Bangladesh in September.

“He has started to bowl. The first Test is on 19th September. That was always the goal [him making a comeback by that time]. Whether he can make it back to the squad by that time, I’ll have to speak with the guys at the NCA,” Agarkar said.

What about Hardik Pandya?

“Hardik Pandya is still a very important player for our team. We want hardik to be the player that he can be because those sorts of skill sets are very difficult to find,” Agarkar said.

“Fitness, obviously, has been a challenge for him over the last few years and then it becomes a little bit more difficult for him and even as selectors,” the chief selector said, adding that Pandya has been filled in with the change of role.

Ravindra Jadeja was among the senior pros, who announced his retirement from the T20. The spinner, who has also proved his handiness with the bat on numerous matches, was not considered for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, which led to speculations about his international future.

 Agarkar said: “With an intense Test schedule awaiting the Indian team, the selection committee preferred to give Ravindra Jadeja a break by not selecting him for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Agarkar confirmed that the spin-bowling all-rounder wasn’t dropped from the team.

“I think we should have clarified this when we announced the squad. He hasn’t been dropped (but rested). There are a lot of Test series coming up, and he will be playing a lot of those.”

“Very good for the TRPs (his run-ins with Kohli in the IPL) but my relationship with him is not public. On the field, everyone will fight for their own team. At the moment, we are representing India. I share a very good relationship. I have had lots of chances to talk to him. It is not important what we discuss. The most important thing is we both have to work hard to make India proud. He is a thorough professional, a world-class player, and that is going to continue.”
