JSW motor is back with new suv segment, and this time the company is not testing the waters quietly. The JSW Group has officially stepped into the Indian automobile market with JSW Motors, and its first product will be based on the globally popular Jetour T2. The SUV is already on sale in China, the Middle East and several other international markets, and it is now heading to India with a planned launch around Diwali 2026.
For buyers who often say, “another day, another SUV,” this one may deserve a closer look. JSW is entering the segment with a bold, rugged and feature-packed model rather than starting small. That clearly shows intent.
A serious entry into the SUV space, JSW motor is back
The news that JSW motor is back with new suv segment has created curiosity in the market. Unlike many new brands that begin with compact SUVs, JSW is targeting the premium mid-size SUV space from the start. The upcoming JSW Motors Jetour T2 will likely be positioned around the Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, putting it in direct competition with some well-established names.
The Jetour T2 India launch is expected around November 2026, right in the festive season when car sales traditionally see a strong spike. The timing suggests that the company wants maximum visibility and strong early bookings.
From what we know so far, this JSW debut SUV India will combine proper off-road styling with everyday practicality. It is not being marketed as a hardcore off-roader alone, but as a lifestyle SUV that can handle rough patches while still being comfortable for city drives and highway trips.
Bold design that stands out

One look at the Jetour T2 and you can tell it is not trying to blend in. The design is boxy, upright and confident. Some might notice a hint of inspiration from the Land Rover Defender in its overall stance, but the Jetour T2 has its own character.
At the front, there is a large rectangular grille with bold Jetour lettering. The grille sits on a gloss black panel, giving it a strong road presence. The LED headlamps are squared in shape and feature pixel-style detailing, including the daytime running lights. The bumper looks solid and sculpted, with contrasting inserts that enhance the rugged look.
The side profile continues the tough theme. The SUV rides on up to 20-inch alloy wheels with a contrasting grey finish and neon accents. The wheel arches are slightly flared, and a side step has been added to make getting in and out easier, especially considering its tall stance. All pillars are blacked out, creating a floating roof effect, while the roof itself is body-coloured. The roof rails also carry subtle neon detailing, which adds a modern touch.
At the rear, the squared design continues. Vertically placed LED tail lamps give it a distinctive signature. A tailgate-mounted spare wheel sits prominently at the centre, adding to its SUV appeal. The chunky rear bumper with skid plate-like detailing further highlights its off-road intent.
Globally, the Jetour T2 is offered in multiple colour options including Night Black, Sun Orange, Misty Cyan, Lime Green, Silver Snow and Sand. It remains to be seen which shades will make it to the Indian market.
Spacious cabin with large screens
Step inside and the cabin feels wide and airy. The dashboard has a clean, horizontal layout that visually stretches the width of the interior. The biggest highlight is the 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system placed at the centre. It is large, sharp and clearly aimed at tech-savvy buyers.
Along with that, the driver gets a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The overall layout is minimal, but it does not feel basic. Soft-touch materials are used across the cabin, and there are chrome accents on the centre console to give it a premium touch.
The Jetour T2 is a five-seater SUV. International models come with fabric and PVC upholstery, though Indian buyers may expect a leatherette option when the JSW Motors Jetour T2 arrives here. The steering wheel has a unique octagonal shape and comes with mounted controls.
A panoramic sunroof adds to the sense of space, and there are sturdy grab handles to assist passengers while getting in and out. The rear seats can slide and recline, and there is a centre armrest for added comfort.
Features and safety equipment
When it comes to equipment, the Jetour T2 features list is quite impressive. Apart from the large infotainment system and digital display, it offers a wireless phone charger, cruise control, ambient lighting and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. A CN95 air filter is also included, which is a useful addition in Indian conditions.
Comfort features include dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats with ventilation, heating and even massage function, along with memory settings. These are features usually seen in more expensive SUVs, which could give the JSW debut SUV India an edge.
On the safety front, the SUV comes equipped with electronic stability control, all-wheel disc brakes, a tyre pressure monitoring system and multiple airbags. It also gets a 360-degree camera and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Importantly, it offers Level-2 ADAS features, which include advanced driver assistance systems designed to improve safety and convenience on highways.
Engine options and performance
Globally, the Jetour T2 is offered with multiple engine options. These include a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol plug-in hybrid and a more powerful 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
The 2.0-litre unit produces up to 254 PS and 390 Nm of torque and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission along with a four-wheel-drive system. The smaller engines are offered with front-wheel drive. All versions come with automatic gearboxes, so those looking for a manual option may be disappointed.
It is not yet confirmed which engine options will be offered in India, but the more powerful turbo petrol variant could be a strong contender for our market. The plug-in hybrid version, although available globally, is less likely to be introduced in the initial phase.
Expected price and competition
The Jetour T2 price in India is expected to start at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will compete with SUVs like the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, Jeep Meridian, MG Hector and the Mahindra XUV700.
That is strong competition, but the fact that JSW motor is back with new suv segment in such a bold way shows that the company is confident. With rugged styling, a long features list and global presence backing it, the JSW Motors Jetour T2 could become one of the most talked-about SUV launches of 2026.
As the festive season approaches next year, all eyes will be on how JSW positions its debut product. For now, one thing is clear — JSW motor is back with new suv segment, and it is aiming to make a strong first impression.
