Gunjan Soni
YouTube has picked Gunjan Soni to be the new boss for their India business. She’s taking over from Ishan Chatterjee. He left the job in 2024 after working at Google for 13 years. Now, Ishan Chatterjee is working for JioCinema, a company owned by Viacom18, as their main person for making money.
India is a really important and exciting place for YouTube, full of new ideas and chances. So, the big boss for YouTube in Asia, Gautam Anand, said on LinkedIn that he’s really happy to say Gunjan Soni is now in charge of YouTube in India.
Gunjan Soni has worked in a lot of important jobs for the last 20 years in different kinds of businesses. Before she came to YouTube, she was the main boss at a fashion website called Zalora in Singapore. She also used to work for Myntra (another fashion place), Star India (a TV company), and a company called McKinsey and Company.
Gunjan Soni went to a special school called XLRI in Jamshedpur to get her MBA in money stuff. She also got her first college degree in engineering from a university in Bhopal called Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya.
Talking about her new job, Gunjan Soni said she’s excited to make YouTube even better. She wants to help people come up with new ways to tell their stories and reach tons of people all over the world.
There are so many cool things YouTube can do! Like changing how creators talk to their fans, selling things through videos, those short videos called Shorts, and watching YouTube on your TV. It’s all about helping people see stuff they like from creators and companies they like. Gunjan Soni said she’s really excited to try out new and easy ways to do things like shopping through videos..

It’s all about helping everyone connect with the videos, creators, and companies they like.
Gunjan Soni also said that her whole family is excited about her new job! From her young nephews and nieces to her older family members, everyone uses YouTube. She thinks it’s amazing how many different ages use the platform, and knowing she can make a positive difference in so many people’s lives makes her want to do her best every day..
When Gunjan Soni worked at Myntra, she helped make online clothes shopping a big deal in India. She was in charge of how they told people about their products and how the business worked, back when buying things online was still a new idea for lots of people. When she worked at Star India (the TV company), she helped connect stories with new technology.
Also, when Gunjan Soni was the main boss at ZALORA, she helped the company grow. She had new ideas about what else they could sell, started special programs for loyal customers, and made shopping feel more personal for each person way before everyone else started doing that.
