Cannes 2025 'Homebound'
The Cannes Film Festival is happening in France from May 13 to May 24, 2025. This year, a movie called ‘Homebound,’ directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, was chosen to be shown in a special section called Un Certain Regard. It had its first showing at the festival on Wednesday. The main actors in the film are Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa.
Dharma Productions announced on X (formerly Twitter) that ‘Homebound’ received a nine-minute standing ovation after its first showing. The video they shared showed how happy the audience and press were. The director, Neeraj Ghaywan, got emotional because of this amazing reaction and hugged the producer, Karan Johar. The movie’s stars, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa, also showed their thanks to the audience.
Neeraj Ghaywan, the director of ‘Masaan,’ also shared a video on his Instagram from the ‘Homebound’ premiere. The video, originally posted by cinematographer Aseem Adeeb, shows Neeraj warmly hugging Karan Johar and other team members.
The director, Ghaywan, told Brut India that he’s been working on this movie, ‘Homebound,’ for four years straight, without any time off.
For those who don’t know, ‘Homebound’ is about two friends from a North Indian village. They really want to become police officers because they think it will bring them respect. But as they get more and more desperate to achieve this, their friendship starts to get difficult. The story was written by Shriidhar Dubey, Neeraj Ghaywan, and Varun Grover. And here’s a cool fact: the famous Hollywood director Martin Scorsese also helped produce the movie!
