Sporty and Smart Interiors with Premium Features Of Volkswagen Golf GTI
Earlier this month, Volkswagen India started taking bookings for its premium hatchback, the Golf GTI. According to reports, all the cars from the first batch are already booked. The company had planned to bring cars in India approx. 250, but only 150 were actually available — and all of them have already been booked.
What’s interesting is that customers had to take a quiz to qualify for booking the VW Golf GTI. Only those who scored well were allowed to book this cars. This shows that there is a growing interest in high-performance cars in India. The Golf GTI is expected to cost around ₹60 lakh (on-road), which would make it one of the most expensive hatchbacks ever sold in the country.

The Indian version of the Golf GTI will have a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 261 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. It comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that powers the front wheels. According to Volkswagen, the car can go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 250 kmph.
The Golf GTI has a sporty look. It comes with 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and you can choose 19-inch wheels if you want. Some of the key design features include special GTI bumpers, dual exhaust pipes, and a dual-tone roof spoiler. The car will be available in four beautiful colors: Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Premium, Moonstone Grey Black, and Kings Red Premium.
Inside the car, the dashboard looks similar to the one in the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line. Key features include a large 15-inch touchscreen for infotainment and a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Sporty touches include a flat-bottom steering wheel with the GTI logo and sports seats with Volkswagen’s super special tartan-pattern design. The Volkswagen Golf GTI is expected to launch later this month and will compete with the Mini Cooper S.
