Vodafone Idea (VI), a big company in the mobile phone business, is planning to start its 5G service in March next year. They are going to offer very competitive prices to attract more customers and take back market share from other companies like Jio and Airtel.

Vodafone is planning to introduce its 5G service in the biggest 75 cities across India. This information was shared by a news website, based on what people involved in the planning know. The report says that Vodafone is focusing on 17 important cities and also targeting areas with many industries, as these places use a lot of internet data.

The Indian telecom market is a competitive landscape where Vodafone Idea (Vi) faces stiff competition from major players like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and the state-owned BSNL. These companies vie for market share by offering a range of services, including voice calls, data plans, and other value-added services, at competitive prices.

To gain market share, Vodafone Idea is expected to launch 5G plans that are up to 15% cheaper than those offered by competitors Jio and Airtel, particularly at the entry-level. 1 This aggressive pricing strategy is likely to trigger a price war within the telecom industry, according to news reports citing experts who track broadband tariffs.

In simple terms, the CEO of Vodafone Idea, Akshaya Moondra, has hinted that they might offer 5G internet at a lower price compared to other companies like Jio and Airtel.
