Tamil actor Vijay unveiled the representative flag for his political party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam today. Vijay officially launched the party’s flag and anthem at their head quarter in Panaiyur in Chennai on Thursday. TVK unveiled its flag at 9:15 am on thursday at the party headquarter in Panaiyur, Chennai. Along with the flag, a music featuring the party’s anthem was also released.
Vijay’s entry into politics has been anticipated for sometime due to his roles in politically themed-films. The actor also promised to work for the welfare of Tamil Nadu and said,”Tamil Nadu will be better from now on victory is sure”. During the event, Vijay said,”I know you all are waiting for our first state conference. Preparators are on for it and very soon, I will announce it. Before that I unveiled our party’s flag today. I feel very proud, we will work together for the development of Tamil Nadu. Actor and TVK chief Vijay takes pledge along with party workers and leaders at the party office in Chennai.
While reading out the pledge, actor Vijay said,
“We will always appreciate the fighters who fought and sacrificed their life for the liberation of our country and countless soldiers who brought tirelessly for the rights of our people from Tamil soil. I will remove the differences in the name of caste, religion, gender, place of birth, create awareness among the people and strive for equal opportunities and equal rights for all. I solemnly opinion that I will uphold the principle of equality for all living beings”.
In a statement released a day earlier, Vijay described August 22,2024 as a “Great Blessing” and a proud moment in history. It is a great blessing if everyday is a new direction and a new force in history. Actor Vijay entered into politics and announced the name of his party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam in february this year.
Vijay is now focusing on the 2026 Assembly elections and has already announced his retirement from movies after the highly anticipation action thriller GOAT, set for release on Sep 5. Vijay’s father and mother were also present at the party office during the unveiling of TVK’s flag and symbol. The party also shared its anthem, composed by S.Thaman and written by V.Vivek on its social media handling.
After the flag reveal, a massive raly will take place in the last week of september to formally launch the party in Northern Tamil Nadu. The flag is divided into three strips, while the top and bottom ones are maroon in colour, the one in the middle is yellow. The yellow strip has two elephants and the vaagai flower in the middle. The two coloured maroon and yellow flag has elephants on both sides and a peacock surrounded by stars at the centre.
The Functionaries further said approximately 5 lakh flags have been brought to the party’s headquarters and these will be distributed to district units on Thursday.
