Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy and his wife, MP Sudha Murty, appeared on Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show on November 9, where they shared stories about their life together and amusing moments with each other.

Murthy shared an incident where his daughter, Akshata, urged him to take the first flight back to Bangalore after he forgot his and Sudha’s 25th wedding anniversary. He explained what happened next.

Akshata is now married to former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The UK-based couple visited Bengaluru on November 5, joining Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty at the Sri Raghavendra Swami Mutt.

Narayana Murthy Recalls Incident:

Recalling the incident, Narayan Murthy shared that he had forgotten his 25th wedding anniversary with Sudha Murty, despite her hinting by asking, “Is anything special today?” In a lighthearted conversation with host Kapil Sharma, he added that he had headed to the office but later received a reminder from his daughter.

Murthy shared that at the time, their daughter Akshata was studying in the United States and called him in the evening while he was on his way to Mumbai. “She asked me, ‘What are you doing?’ I told her I was going to catch a flight. She responded, ‘Cancel the flight right now, take the first flight back to Bangalore tomorrow morning, and wish your wife a happy anniversary! I don’t care if you have a speech at 3 pm. If you need to hire a private plane, do it, but come back and wish her!’”

In response to Murthy’s story, Sudha Murty shared that she wasn’t as upset as their daughter. “It was our 25th wedding anniversary, so it’s not something that happens every year. I thought I’d give him a hint, but it didn’t work… I felt a bit bad for five or ten minutes because I’m human, after all. But my daughter was very upset and said, ‘This would never happen in America!’ I just replied, ‘But in India, it happens—who can remember all these things?’”

Murty was open about being a “terrible cook” and appreciated Narayana Murthy’s attitude toward her meals. Jokingly, she said, “Look at his weight; that’s thanks to my cooking! I always tell wives, if you want your husband to lose weight, don’t cook amazing food. I’m no expert in cooking, so I don’t take risks. I know he’s not a foodie, and that works to my advantage.”

Sudha Murty shared an instance when she forgot to add salt to a dish, but her husband didn’t complain. “He said, ‘You took the time to cook, so I won’t complain.’ Boys should learn to cook so they can help their wives in the future.”

As Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and his author-philanthropist wife Sudha Murty appeared on *The Great Indian Kapil Show* on Saturday, they shared some candid insights. When Kapil Sharma asked them about the points of disagreement in their marriage, Narayana Murthy mentioned Sudha’s approach to money. “She is very careful about money. She spends on philanthropy but not on our comfort,” said the billionaire.

Narayan Murthy and Sudha Murthy are known for their simplicity. Despite being the chairman of Infosys with a reported net worth of over Rs 36,000 crore, it is said that Sudha has not bought a new saree in 30 years, even though she has a net worth of Rs 700 crore of her own.The couple appeared on Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show, where Sudha made some interesting revelations about her husband and his first meeting with her father.

She shared an interesting memory about her childhood hero and said, “When I was young, my hero was Dilip Kumar, sir. He was simply fabulous.” She continued, “Next to Dilip Kumar, the only actor who can convey that level of emotion is Shah Rukh Khan. When I saw *Veer-Zara*, I told my daughter, Akshata, that if Dilip Kumar had been young, he would have done *Veer-Zara*. Now, Shah Rukh Khan has taken that place, and only he can act in roles like that.
