India’s Pinaka Rocket System Gains Global Attention

Pinaka Rocket System:

The Pinaka system, a testament to India’s advanced defense technology, played a crucial role in the Kargil War. This powerful weapon system can deliver 12 high-explosive rockets in a rapid 44-second burst. Its upgraded variant further enhances its capabilities with a range of up to 90 kilometers.

France is exploring the integration of India’s advanced Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher system into its defense forces. This state-of-the-art weapon demonstrated its effectiveness during the Kargil War, capable of firing 12 high-explosive rockets in a mere 44 seconds. The upgraded version further enhances its capabilities with a range of up to 90 kilometers.

India’s strategic partnership with France is deepening. The potential sale of the Pinaka rocket system to France underscores India’s growing influence in the global defense market. This development aligns with India’s ambitious goal of achieving Rs 50,000 crore in defense exports by 2029-30.

A collaborative effort between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian industry giants, including Solar Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Tata, and Ordnance Factory Board, has led to the development and production of the Pinaka system.

The Pinaka system was a key topic of discussion during a high-level visit by India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, earlier this year. The French Army Chief, General Pierre Schill, was impressed by the Pinaka’s destructive power during a demonstration at the Pokhran ranges in February. Brigadier General Richou underscored the strategic partnership between India and France, stating, “This is cooperation and this is a common future together.”
