Piscataqua River Bridge:
On Thursday morning, Police shot and killed a man on the Piscataqua River Bridge. Police engaged with the man on the bridge where the incident happened, and where incident ended with officers shooting and killing him. The Maine Altorney General’s Office is investigating the police shooting. Officers also found an 8-year old child fatally shot in the man’s car.
The bridge is now closed for investigation, with authorities indicating no threat to the public. Following this, the bridge was closed from both sides. There is no set timeline for reopening, as of Thursday morning.
The man was killed on the Piscataqua River Bridge on Thursday morning, The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and State Police said in a Joint Press release. They said the incident appears to have started with a man killing a woman at a home in Troy, New Hampshire, overnight and then driving to the bridge at the portsmouth, New Hampshire, State line with Kittley Maine.
Between 70,000 and 80,000 vehicles use the bridge daily, according to The Maine Department Of Transportation. Traffic is being diverted to the two local bridges in the area, police said. Drivers are being advised to find alternate routes.
