Mark your calendars! Starbucks dress code 2025, Starbucks let everyone know on Monday that their baristas will have a new dress code starting on May 12th. The company explained on Monday that the changes to the dress code are so the green aprons that Starbucks baristas wear will stand out more.
Starbucks Dress Code 2025
Basically, Starbucks sees their employees as the face of their company. They said that their green apron is super important and has always been a special thing about them. That green apron has been the symbol of Starbucks since 1987, representing all the workers in North America who chat with customers every day.
Because the green apron is so key, Starbucks is changing their dress rules in all stores starting May 12th. The new rules will have fewer color options for clothes so that the green apron is more noticeable. This will also make things look more consistent for customers at any Starbucks in North America.
So, what will baristas have to wear under the new rules?
They’ll need to wear solid black shirts. These can have short or long sleeves and can be any basic style like a t-shirt, a collared shirt, or a button-down.
For bottoms, they can choose any shade of khaki, black pants, or blue jeans.
Starbucks said that by changing the dress code, they want to make the experience in all their coffee shops more the same. It will also give their employees simpler and easier rules to follow. This way, the employees can spend more time focusing on making good drinks and connecting with the people who come in.
The change in dress code is part of a larger plan by Starbucks called “Back to Starbucks.” This plan is about making their cafes feel new and remembering their main identity. Since Brian Niccol became the CEO in October 2024, he’s been stressing the importance of focusing on what’s always been important to Starbucks.
According to the CEO, there’s a general feeling that Starbucks hasn’t been focusing on its main purpose lately. He wants Starbucks to be seen as a friendly coffee house where people can gather and where they can always get top-notch coffee.
