Infosys Free Skills Training

Infosys  which is a really big Indian tech company (the second biggest!), has recently told 240 people who were still in training that they have to leave. This happened because they didn’t do well enough on some tests the company gave them. This is actually the second time in the last couple of months that Infosys has let people go because of how they were performing at work. The company sent emails to these 240 people to let them know.

So, a little while back in February, Infosys also let go of another group of trainees – about 320 people. The reason was pretty much the same: they didn’t pass some tests the company gave them to check their progress.

Even though Infosys is letting these trainees go, they’re also trying to help them out. The company is paying for some general training classes with two other companies called NIIT and UpGrad. They’re even offering these same classes to the people who were let go in the first round. On top of that, Infosys will also give these departing trainees one month’s salary, a place to stay for a bit, and some money to help them travel.

So, Infosys sent an email to these trainees explaining why they were being let go.The email basically said, “We looked at your results from the final test you took. Even though we gave you extra time to study, answered your questions, gave you practice tests, and even let you try the test three times, you still didn’t pass the basic training program.

The email also said, “We want to help you find a new path. So, we’re offering to pay for training that could get you a job in the business process management (BPM) industry. If you finish that training successfully, you could even apply for jobs at another part of Infosys called Infosys BPM Limited. But, if you still want to work in regular tech, we’ll also pay for a different training program that will teach you the basics of IT and help you with your tech career.

These trainees who are now leaving were actually hired by Infosys almost three years ago, in 2022. However, they only started their actual work at the company in October of last year. Also, just so you know, in this current work year, Infosys has taken on a total of 15,000 people for training.

At the same time, a group that represents tech workers called NITES has filed another complaint. This time, they’ve gone to the government department that deals with job skills to complain about Infosys unfairly and wrongly laying off around 370 trainees in total. This includes the 240 we talked about earlier and the 130 from the first round.

so the tech workers’ group, NITES, is really upset with Infosys. They’re saying it’s wrong and unfair that Infosys has fired another 370 trainees who were part of a government training program. NITES claims Infosys forced these trainees to sign papers saying they were leaving by mutual agreement, which isn’t right. NITES also says Infosys didn’t have a good legal reason to do this, didn’t warn the trainees beforehand, didn’t follow the proper steps, and is completely ignoring the rules set by the Indian government. That’s what NITES is saying in their statement.
