Air India flight diverted, reported a routine landing in Abu Dhabi airport and assured that the flight will be returning to Delhi without delay.
On Sunday, an Air India flight en route from Delhi to Tel Aviv airport was rerouted to Abu Dhabi after a missile strike occurred near Ben Gurion Airport in the Israeli city. Just under an hour prior to the anticipated landing of Air India flight AI139 in Tel Aviv, a missile attack took place, PTI reported.
Information from the flight tracking website Flightradar24.com indicates that the Air India flight was within Jordanian airspace on Sunday when it was diverted to Abu Dhabi.
Basically, the Air India flight AI139 that was supposed to go from Delhi to Tel Aviv on Saturday got rerouted. There was some kind of issue at the Tel Aviv airport that morning, so the plane ended up landing in Abu Dhabi. The good news is that Air India said it landed okay, and it’s expected to fly back to Delhi in a little while.
Because of what happened, Air India has also said that they’re not flying between Delhi and Tel Aviv for the rest of today and all of tomorrow, May 6th.
Air India’s spokesperson explained that they’ve had to cancel all flights to and from Tel Aviv starting right away, and this will continue until the end of Tuesday, May 6th. The main reason is to keep their passengers and employees safe. They also added that their team is on the ground helping the affected travelers and trying to sort out other travel options for them.
For anyone who had an Air India ticket to fly between Delhi and Tel Aviv between May 4th and May 6th, they’re giving you a couple of options. You can either change your flight to a different date once without paying a fee, or you can cancel your flight and get all your money back. The spokesperson finished by saying that Air India always puts the safety of their passengers and crew first.
Air India Flight Diverted Tel Aviv Airport Attack

On Sunday, we heard from Israeli police that the airport in Tel Aviv, the country’s biggest one, was briefly shut down after a missile was launched all the way from Yemen.
According to the Associated Press, the police said that once they did their last safety checks, they expected the airport to go back to its usual schedule of planes taking off and landing, and other activities.
Yesterday, Sunday, after the missile was launched, people saw a cloud of smoke rising up close to the airport. The news agency also said you could hear passengers yelling and trying to get out of the way quickly.
Reuters reported that a senior Israeli police commander, Yair Hetzroni, showed journalists the impact site of the missile – a crater. Airport authorities said it landed near a road next to the Terminal 3 parking area. Hetzroni described the hole as being many meters across and deep, but noted that the damage wasn’t major. In other news, Israel’s paramedic service, Magen David Adom, said that four people received minor injuries from the incident.
Hetzroni, a police commander, described the impact site by saying, “The scene behind us shows a hole that’s opened up, and it’s tens of metres in diameter and also tens of metres deep.” He added that despite the size, the damage wasn’t significant. In other news, Israel’s paramedic service, Magen David Adom, reported that there were four people who sustained minor injuries.
