One user asked BT, “The email servers are down, and there’s no response on your chat. What’s going on?” Another questioned, “Why is BT Mail down, and why isn’t there any update on your website?” A third user added, “Hi, can you explain why there’s no pinned message here about the issue and when it will be fixed?”

One frustrated customer on Downdetector said they had been facing issues for 90 minutes, adding, “90 minutes and still nothing. Not good enough, BT.”

Responding to another customer locked out of their emails, one user said, “So frustrating, right? I accessed my emails fine this morning, but then I got a message saying, ‘Please wait for the messages to load,’ followed by a DNS server error. I’ve tried everything—clearing cookies, flushing DNS—but nothing is working. The servers must be down.”

According to Downdetector, most complaints are about email issues, with 92% of users unable to access their BT emails. Around 7% are facing broadband problems, while 1% are having trouble with BT’s website.

BT later apologized and advised customers to use mobile data instead of WiFi to access their emails. The company said they are looking into the issue and confirmed that no other BT services are affected.

A BT spokesperson said, “We know some customers can’t access their emails through webmail or the app. We’re investigating the issue and apologize for the inconvenience. Customers can try switching off WiFi and using mobile data instead. No other BT services are affected.
