Tesla hiring, now a days announced new job opportunities in India, including roles focused on sourcing components for upcoming products. These nine new positions are in addition to the 13 positions already listed by Tesla in mid-February.
Along with the new hiring, Tesla India Motor and Energy, which cleared the homologation stage for all four models/variants it applied for in India in 2021 but, has now received approval for eight out of the nine models/variants it sought, according to the government-controlled Vahan portal.
Earlier positions were focused on sales and service support, operations analysis, and charging development. The new openings, however, are aimed at parts that support design for manufacturing in the early stages of product development.
The available jobs are in purchasing and electronics under the Supplier Industrialisation Engineer (SIE) team. This team helps Tesla work with suppliers to develop and approve important electronic parts and components. Earlier jobs were about sales, service support, operations analysis, and charging development. The new jobs focus on helping design and make parts in the early stages of product development.

Since this team supports new and existing products across the supply chain, there is talk in India that Tesla is planning a new product for the Indian market, which will likely be built locally with parts sourced from India.
Tesla is buying parts from Indian suppliers. According to Union Minister Piyush Goyal, it was worth $1 billion a few years ago and is expected to grow to $1.7-1.9 billion in fiscal year 2024.
Tesla is hiring for 22 jobs in Mumbai and Pune. These include roles like engineer, purchasing specialist, charging developer, PCB design engineer, electronics expert, delivery specialist, product engineer, software engineer, support analyst, security specialist, service advisor, parts advisor, service technician, service manager, and Tesla advisor.

States like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka are interested in having a Tesla factory. However, in February, US President Donald Trump said it would be “unfair” to the US if Elon Musk chose to build a factory in India.
Even though Tesla’s manufacturing plans in India are still uncertain, the company has secured showroom spaces in Mumbai and Delhi. The first showroom, covering 3,000 sq ft, will open in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, and the second one will be in Delhi’s Aerocity area.
